Afternoon Surprise

The beautiful blue pinwheels popped up one beautiful sunny morning in Burnet Woods.  People were so mesmerized by this spontaneous art installation.  While I was taking pictures, a school bus full of kids went by and all of the kids started shrieking in excitement.  In the day, the pinwheels looked like a stadium full of camera flashes.  At night, it looked like choppy ocean water.  Later I found out, its mission is to prevent child abuse.  What a beautiful and subtle gesture.

Chelsea ah yes, I enjoyed seeing those! In Dayton there was something similar in a guy’s front yard, only with mini American flags to represent # of soldiers lost in Iraq, I believe.

After the Gulf Oil Spill, we talked about doing something like this, but then all went off to co-op in different cities…
