Cooking Architecture

Cooking Architecture is the space where we bring together and share our experiences within the cultures of food and architecture. Our hope is that while simultaneously experimenting with the making of the two, we will find places of intersection.

We grew up in two different worlds, Claire in the farmlands of Ohio and Juan in Colombia, Colorado, and finally Indiana. But we met seven years ago at architecture school in Cincinnati, and we still can't stop talking about food and design!

We love discovering new recipes, creating communal meals, and sharing our passions with friends and family. Experiment, don't follow all the rules, share your ideas, and let us know how it works out.

Wednesday is my final thesis presentation—my last critique in graduate school. It is thrilling, overwhelming, and bittersweet all wrapped up in forty minutes. For a preview of the presentation, today I would love to share with you the video (above) that I put together of all the meals. It features small pieces of the amazing and inspiring conversations we had during these dinners. I also have a few shots of the Making Place for Ritual book that just arrived! The feeling of having all of your work in a shiny new, beautifully bound book is pretty indescribable. The excitement is what is keeping me going until Wednesday. Check back next week to see some images from the presentation and more detailed drawings of the building design!
